A still portrait, a conversation, and memory that lives on your own computer, plus an optional private connection to an iPhone Home Screen app. You add a picture of your own companion (three starter faces are included while you decide), choose the AI company that answers you, and switch on the optional features you want.

Living Portrait is a Windows application: a still portrait, a conversation, and memory that lives on your own computer, plus an optional private connection to an iPhone Home Screen app. It is not the Pocket Familiar App Store app. The faces in the pictures below are the three starter portraits that come with the app; the point is to add a picture of your own companion, which takes one click in Settings. An AI account and usage credit are not included; you choose your provider and pay them directly. Optional Fish Audio speech has its own account and its own charges.
We built it so your companion's conversation and memory live on your computer, not on our servers. The installed app has no Sin & Sarah telemetry, analytics or usage reporting. That doesn't make your conversations offline: the AI company you choose receives what it needs to answer you.
Your purchase includes twelve months of updates to Living Portrait. The app doesn't update itself: use your purchase-download link and follow that version's instructions. Provider and optional Fish Audio charges stay separate.
Nine pictures, no promises the app doesn't keep. Every face you see here is a starter portrait; yours goes where they are. The feature boards below are enlarged app panels arranged for the page; the exact controls and wording are in the app and its documents.

Rowan, Mara and Rin are placeholders so the app works the moment it opens. Add a picture you have permission to use and it takes their place. The portrait stays on your computer.

Review continuity, browse the conversation archive, back up and restore local memory, and explore connections in the mind graph.

Add the paired experience to your iPhone Home Screen. It connects through Tailscale to your awake Windows app, and you can share a photo when your chosen model supports images.

Give your companion a name, add a picture of your own companion (or keep one of the three starter faces), and set the room's mood with five colour themes.

Choose a system voice and speaking speed, or configure optional Fish Audio using your own paid account. Fish playback is desktop-only.

Revisit journal entries and keep little creations made through your chosen model. Each entry or creation uses an additional provider request.

On a laptop · the ember themeWhat this version is not. In version 0.2.21 your portrait is a still picture. It doesn't move, blink or lip-sync, and there's no animation engine or model download in this package. We aren't promising animation later. You don't need Pocket Familiar, a Familiar body, or any App Store connector. Screen sharing and phone Fish Audio voice aren't in this version, and Care / Surprises controls aren't exposed in this edition.
AI output can be wrong; check anything that matters. A companion is not a medical, legal, financial or emergency service.
Windows only for now; a Mac edition is being built separately. The installer is about 128 MB and installs for your Windows user account. We test on Windows 11.
While installing and whenever you use an online AI provider. If your computer needs Microsoft's WebView2 component, the installer downloads it, and that can look like nothing is happening for a few minutes. It is.
Your own AI-provider account and API key for live conversation. Living Portrait has provider settings for Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, xAI, OpenRouter and Groq. No AI account or credit is included.
An iPhone on iOS 18.4 or later, Safari, and Tailscale on both devices. The computer has to stay awake with Living Portrait open and Tailscale connected.
What it costs to use. Your AI company bills you for its service. Optional Fish Audio speech uses a separate Fish account and credit. Longer conversation context and the optional memory look-back can raise your provider usage. Living Portrait doesn't show your provider bill or cap your spending; set any budget controls in the provider's own account.
A finished-app purchase doesn't include source code or a Builders / Creator Kit, and it doesn't include licences to any third-party model.
Your purchase gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Living Portrait on the computers you own or control in one household. It is not a licence to resell, rent, sublicense or share the installer or your private download link.
Make it yours: choose a portrait, write your companion's identity, connect your own supported AI and voice accounts. Personal modification is allowed, as long as you don't redistribute the product or substantial parts of it.
Digital downloads are final sale, and when something is broken, wrong or not as described we put it right with a corrected file, a replacement or a refund, at our discretion. None of that takes away any refund, cancellation or other remedy you're entitled to under consumer law where you live.
Your AI provider and Fish Audio bill you directly. We can't refund their charges; contact the company that billed you.
Conversation history, saved memories and settings stay on your Windows PC. The installed app has no Sin & Sarah telemetry, analytics or usage reporting. When you send a message, your AI provider receives it with selected context, and the provider's own processing, retention rules and charges apply. We don't sell, rent or trade personal information.
